Live Review: FKJ's new jam will make you never want to 'Go Back Home'

20 January 2017 | 10:44 am | Jackson Langford

In this time of year, we cop an absolute influx of summery jams that transport you from your cramped desk under that annoying flickering fluorescent light and broken aircon to Tahiti or Bora Bora, where the sun glimmers on the water that is so blue it's almost unnatural. Tell you what else is almost unnatural - the radiant warmth that oozes from the first single of the year by FKJ, 'Go Back Home', taken straight from his upcoming debut record.

FKJ, or French Kiwi Juice, has been recognised as a revolutionary of sorts in the realm of French electronic music for the new generation and one listen to 'Go Back Home' is a blatant indicator of why. It's a jazzy track at heart, and FKJ's crooning vocals float gently along before you're submerged in a world of stabbing synths and pitched melodies. The entire track, compared to every other summer tune we've received over the past few months, is refreshingly understated. It's subtle and sophisticated, yet still packs a punch - much like a good mojito which is exactly what I feel like drinking when I hear this song.

As previously stated, this tune is the first cut we've heard from the producer's forthcoming debut record which is being released via French label Roche Musique. FKJ has also taken his talents to our shores as recently as November, so let's pray that this album will call for a return trip. Although the release date is still to be confirmed, be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled because, if this song is anything to go by, you are not going to want to miss it.
