Must see acts at Laneway Festival 2017

It goes without saying really that St. Jerome's Laneway Festival is without a doubt one of Australia's best and most successful touring festivals. Recognised each year due to their knack for picking just who's going to be the next big thing, their team sure does know how to put one hell of a lineup together.

This year's lineup boasts one of their biggest and brightest to date. Featuring huge acts such as Tame Impala, Nick Murphy, Jagwar Ma, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and more, it's got something for everyone.

Laneway kicks off for another year at the end of the month, so we thought it'd be fitting to share some of the acts on the bill that we're really keen to check out.

BOB MOSES

If you haven't yet heard Canadian duo Bob Moses yet, you're definitely in luck. You've still got time to get acquainted with the epic soundscapes these guys manage to create before they take to the stage. With a couple of solid releases under their belt as well as some pretty hefty international attention, the guys are set to deliver something incredibly special.

Expect sweeping bouts of lush electronica paired with some laissez faire vocals and you've got yourself probably one of the most unexpected yet manic sets you'll see.

JESS KENT

Sydney local Jess Kent has been making some incredible waves as of late. Taking some intense tropical vibes and injecting them into some epic hip hop vibes, she's taking her new EP My Name Is Jess Kent to all corners of the music world. Most recently, she supported Coldplay on their Australian tour which is absolutely massive for this local gal.

Filling her EP to the brim with catchy hooks, sweet melodies and some intense attitude, there's no doubt that her live set will be anything but high energy.

D.D DUMBO

Having released one of the best albums of last year with Utopia Defeated, anticipation has been extremely high to catch this guy in action. After a slew of shows were cancelled last year, fans felt a little high and dry without their Dumbo fix, but Utopia Defeated more than sated that thirst when it was released. Seriously stunning, D.D Dumbo's voice (similar to Tune-Yards) cuts through his vibrant, intricate and sweeping arrangements; every song like a live entity.

It'll be remarkable to see how he transforms the eclectic intricacy of his album on stage, but this is a challenge we are certain he will more than rise to. Lead single 'Walrus' has been all over the airwaves, and was a quick favourite across the country, and is sure to be a true highlight in the live setting, not to mention 'Satan', 'Brother' and so much more.

SAMPA THE GREAT

You don't get to support Kendrick Lamar if you're just anyone. Sampa The Great has gone from strength to absolute strength over the past 18 months. From releasing mixtapes, touring the country, playing at just about every festival you could hope for, collabs on collabs and so much more, it's safe to say Sampa is on the brink - and we really mean, the brink - of breaking through.

Her live performances are energetic, feel-good, fun and thought-provoking. Her intelligent raps are paired with funky beats courtesy of Godriguez, providing the perfect environment for you to think, feel, and most importantly, dance. This is not one to miss.
