Sometimes the quietest music makes the loudest roar, and MATUSA’s latest is the perfect example of this.

The Perth duo are newcomers on the scene but have already grabbed our attention with their ambient soundscapes and soulful composition. Made up of Clae on vocals/production and Yore on keys/production, the pair have only been releasing music together for the past year.

‘Let Me Remind You’ is the latest slice of downtempo electronica, floating here and there but anchored with a strong backbone. The track starts with a couple talking, reminiscing on finding out each other’s favourite things. It’s a lovely little touch that sets the scene for the next three and a half heartfelt minutes and cleverly is carried through.

A series of warped vocals contrast the polished production of the track, swelling as each minute goes by. Clae’s clean vocals support the melody of the song, rippling into an echo chamber spliced with more of the conversation the pair started on. ‘Let Me Remind You’ has an obvious clean, minimalistic sound but it’s supremely effective and never feels sterile.

Matusa undeniably produce some of the most seamless soul music we’ve got emerging in Australia right now, and I have a feeling ‘Let Me Remind You’ is only just the beginning of what they have to show us.
