Live Review: Go on a summer trip with Hare Squead in 'Herside Story'

Irish hip-hop trio HARE SQUEAD take you on a summer trip with colourful DIY video for ‘Herside Story.’

Taken on the Amsterdam leg of their European tour, the clip is a technicolour dreamland. A hazy upbeat tune, built around crispy drums and soulful vocals. The kaleidoscopic illusion coalesce with the sun-drenched jungle scenery and catchy pop hooks.

JESSY ROSE, TONY KONSTONE and E-KNOCK are the epitome of cool. Spitting rhymes and slow grooving in the sunshine. Filmed by JACK O'FLYNN, the clip is like everything DRAKE tried to capture in Hotline Bling, minus the misogynistic undertones. Hare Squead channel US hip hop through their crisp percussive style. But their air is noticeably more laid back. There's an ease about their production, not overly stylised or over zealous. The trio have taken the driving pop hook from DUA LIPA's playbook, and turned it into an instant summer classic. Just sunny and not overly sentimental.

‘Herside Story’ is a tune that’ll have you hanging for warm weather and groovy nights.
