Live Review: Nicole Millar drops another mega tune with 'Pixelated'

22 November 2016 | 5:33 pm | Jackson Langford

Is there anything NICOLE MILLAR can't do?

After spending her mammoth 2016 establishing herself as an artist that's way too assured to be ignored, the days until her Communications EP are becoming fewer and fewer. To give us that one last taste before the full thing drops on December 2, she has given us 'Pixelated' which, despite the title, might be the clearest Nicole Millar's sound and vision have ever been.

It is the most refined she has ever sounded, complete with crisp production and her lush, sensual vocals. The tune - which is a little reminiscent of Flume with that futuristic drop smack-bang in the middle of the chorus - is oozing with sexuality and Nicole Millar's tongue-in-cheek fierceness is absolutely awesome to hear. "But I couldn't care less / I'm so careless, watch me get so pixelated / And that's why you want me."

The song is the follow-up to her stunning lead single 'Signals', which was a massive pop banger to say the least. When we spoke to her about the track, she said "It’s about a relationship where you’re with the person, but they haven’t admitted it yet and you’re trying to show them your worth and that you will go if they don’t accept your signals." Judging by the two tastes we have so far, we can expect a strong theme of communication, or lack thereof, throughout the aptly-titled EP.

Communications EP is due to be released on December 2.
