Live Review: Jesper Jenset's 'Lies' is an absolute banger and that's the truth

Scandinavian pop, as of late, has really become banger central as artist after artist are turning out bop after bop like the rent is due tomorrow. JESPER JENSET, from Norway, clearly intends to keep that tradition going with his new track 'Lies.'

For fans of ZAYN and The Weeknd, 'Lies' is an synth-pop mega tune that is ice-cold at every turn. Jesper Jenset's frosty, near-scathing lyrics - "Always the selfish behaviour / First on the bed, now on the floor / Always for me to come save" - are so embedded with relatable, fiery passion that it's going to fill you with an empathetic rage.

These icy lyrics are directly juxtaposed, however, with a magnificent drop and bouncy production. The mixture of the two makes for a real complex listen and is going to instil a different emotion in you with each listen. You'll be getting seriously down to the tune, with its playful and very dance-able melody, while your blood boils over that ex-lover that did you wrong. Not to mention Jenset's got himself a cool set of pipes, with his slow-burning, soulful vocals carrying the huge song effortlessly from start to finish.

“'Lies' has a cool vibe and energy, and I like how we mixed a more serious lyric with the playful production and drop,” says Jenset of the track. “I feel that it gives the song an exciting expression.”

Jesper Jenset is yet another rising star out of Scandinavia, and you'd be lying to yourself if you said you weren't going to keep your eyes peeled for what he's going to do next.
