Sydney songwriter and producer JACK GRACE has dropped his latest single ‘Nice To Meet You’. The most recent track to be lifted off the artist’s debut EP River, ‘Nice To Meet You’ features glitchy production and a ticking beat that will make you feel like the artist has taken you on an adventure.

The River EP presents a track list ripe with euphoria and steadied with melancholic touches, and the latest single plays into all of these elements.

‘Nice To Meet You’ will leave you breathless with its panting percussion and strenuous melodies. There is nothing particularly quick or cluttered about the track, however it is the clever build up of sound that makes the listening experience a concentrative and consuming one.

The quivering percussion sounds like battered breath, and Jack Grace sings every word with an extension of each note. The keys are played in opposition to this; their nonchalance and coolness tie in an element of funk to the song’s more electro-beat ways.

Textures, genres and ideas are all melded together in an array of simplicity versus completeness. The song has a rambunctious potential, but the interest lies in the restraint. Each level of percussion or emotional vocal melody can be taken to glorious heights, but it is Jack Grace’s choice to remain subtle and understated that makes ‘Nice To Meet You’ so welcoming and fascinating.
