With over 150 acts set to play in Brisbane over the next 48 hours, we thought we'd give you a hand figuring out who to catch at this year's BIGSOUND.
BIGSOUND is once again upon us. As the Australian musical community descends onto Brisbane for a week of showcases, panels and lots and lots of beers, all eyes will be on the showcases as the next crop of talent comes through to show what they've got.
With over 150 acts set to play over the next two days, it can be a bit daunting trying to figure out where you're going to be or who you're going to see, so we took it upon ourselves to give you five must-see acts of the next 48 hours. We're #trustedfortaste here at PURPLE SNEAKERS, so we thought we'd give you a hand.

ALICE IVY
Bringing future soul into the alternate mainstream, ALICE IVY is the one-woman band you need to see this year. Her infectious energy on stage is enough to get you moving, but her expertly crafted dance tunes will see you borderline raving within no time at all. She's just teamed up with RaRa for her latest single, which saw her tour not only Australia but abroad as well. She has a few key spots for New Year's Eve as well, putting her in prime position to really blow up come 2017. She's playing three times in three days, so you have no excuse really!

ANATOLE
We cannot get enough of ANATOLE and his masterful electronica. The man produces such meticulous and well considered music, you almost feel like you're being let in on a secret when he shares his music. Powerful, emotive and intense, we can't wait to see how his captivating catalogue comes to life in a live setting. Thankfully we can now stop wondering. He'll be performing early Wednesday night so don't miss out! Get in early to avoid disappointment.

BROADWAY SOUNDS
This trio out of Melbourne know how to get a crowd moving. Their sensational and seamless blends of so many different types of dance music makes for a good time every time, and we can't wait to see the three in action. Jungle meets tropical meets rave meets whatever else they want to throw into the mix, BROADWAY SOUNDS are as impressive as they are fun, and will serve as a real standout in the live electronic division of BIGSOUND. Definitely ones to watch, we are predicting really big things for these guys in the near future, so take our word for it and meet us there! Don't blame us if you end up with 'Shonky Man' in your head for the next few days though...

HUNTLY
Melbourne trio HUNTLY stole our hearts earlier this year with the release of their EP Feel Better Or Stop Trying. Making rave music that will make you cry, HUNTLY pair stunning vocals with lyrics that will cut through to your core, blended together with expertly produced dance music that combines RnB with a tinge of pop and dance sensibilities. The results are a beautiful and powerful concoction of intimacy and danceability. They're playing a few shows over the course of BIGSOUND, so you'd be a fool for not getting along to at least one. Catch them at their official showcase or during an awesome afternoon show on Wednesday put on by LISTEN Records from Melbourne and tastemaker Brisbane radio show The Amplifier on 4ZZZ.

RIBONGIA
After blowing us away with his DJ set at our KING STREET CRAWL party just this weekend, we are readying our bodies for a live RIBONGIA set at BIGSOUND. With his African influences and jungle rhythms, RIBONGIA's output of music since its inception speaks for itself, and now with the release of his most recent EP, Escapisms, we've got our bets on a whirlwind dance party from start to finish. Set to play not only his official showcase, but a killer party on Friday night to launch the new publicity firm of MELLUM, RIBONGIA's week is looking packed and we're hoping to see him as many times as possible!
