Live Review: PREMIERE: LDRU gets the remix treatment from TIME PILOT & No Way Back

9 September 2016 | 9:53 am | Emma Jones

After releasing one of his best songs yet, LDRU has now been remixed by four different producers - and we have the exclusive listen of two right here!

Professional party starter LDRU released one of his best songs recently in the form of "Next To You". Teaming up with SAVOI for vocals, "Next To You" serves as a point of difference in LDRU's catalogue - with a slight touch on the brake pedal, he delivers a matured take on his tropical trap sounds and now we have two exclusive reworks to explore the tune even further.

Premiering today on PURPLE SNEAKERS, two up and coming acts have stepped up to the plate to rework LDRU. Not an easy task given that LDRU is one of the leading producers in the whole damn country, but the results stand alongside the original to create a seriously impressive package.

First, WA outfit TIME PILOT. They've taken "Next To You" from the day time to the sweaty club, where they're most at home. Taking everything to full throttle, they turn everything up to 11. Playing with SAVOI's vocals and splicing it up, they take inspiration from fellow Perth producers SLUMBERJACK with the intensity, worldly influence and the ability to turn a song inside out to create something entirely their own.

Next up, we have NO WAY BACK. The LA talent's offering gives sunny, piano-house vibes. Preferring to keep SAVOI's vocals in tact, with driving synths and feel good beats, NO WAY BACK brings his LA style into the fray for a stylish and refined rework. Complementing LDRU's Australian sound, NO WAY BACK builds on this, combining the two styles into a relaxed, laid-back number that gives some chill to the original.

The "Next To You" remix package is out today, also featuring remixes by ONDA and NINE LIVESLDRU himself has just wrapped up a huge national tour and a stellar set at SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS, and is quickly becoming a serious force to be reckoned with both at home and abroad, whilst these producers who remixed "Next To You" seem to be stepping up their game as well. Our eyes are peeled on these guys - we're predicting big things!
