If you are into the secret, yet brilliant, finds you can discover roaming around Melbourne gigs then you better discover FRANCESCA GONZALES pretty soon, because she isn’t going to stay a secret long.

The 22 year old Melbourne local has dropped her debut track ‘Hope’ and it is this amazing mix of RnB, electronica and soulful vocals. Take the sound away it could practically be something you might have found on an Eva Cassidy album back in the day (say what you want, she could bloody sing!).

The track is often quite gloomy, the lyrics sure tell a story of the pain hope can bring, and the minimalistic sounds accompanying Gonzales’ vocals help to paint a picture of somewhat beautiful despair.

As the track builds and gains momentum the sound adds some guitar and RnB-esque vocals, as if the character telling the story is pushing through and getting on with it. ‘Hope’ is a transformative track in terms of both the sounds, and the pictures it paints.

Francesca Gonzales is definitely one to watch. She has been trawling away at her EP for a couple of years now, working with the likes of Rat & Co. and Simon Lam. ‘Hope’ is being launched in Melbourne on October 2. It’s a free gig so locals should definitely get down there to support this amazing talent.
