Purple Sneakers Approved: Field Day unleashes massive 2017 lineup

30 August 2016 | 1:12 pm | Staff Writer

Field Day has once again brought the absolute best of the best for one massive day in Sydney come New Year's Day.

Field Day has just announced their 2017 lineup, and it is shaping up to be the one-stop-shop for all the best acts of the New Year's festivals across the country. Once again pulling huge international acts as well as the cream of the crop for our local talents, Field Day is 100% Purple Sneakers Approved! Here's why:

Dusky

Having headlined iconic stages across the world, it's been a while since this electronic duo graced us with their presence. However, such was the experience of their last jaunt here, we certainly haven't forgotten. Bringing their techno vibes Down Under, DUSKY will be keeping the crowd moving with their epic catalogue of pulsating rave music. Their sophomore album, Outer, is due for release September 30th, and is already shaping up to be one of the best dance albums of the year, so we can expect a lot of new material to ring in the New Year to!

Kölsch

Although he was only just here in March, Kölsch will be heading back to Australia again this New Year's Eve, and will be bringing some seriously solid dance vibes with a DJ set at Field Day. Having released his latest album, 1983, earlier this year, Kölsch has been touring all over the world this year and playing some of the biggest stages on offer. His music transcends genres, and his latest album is one that transports you to another place, so it will be the perfect vibe for the Field Day stage!

Vera Blue

From selling out her own shows to performing at Splendour with FlumeVera Blue has absolutely exploded onto the scene this year and is one of 2016's busiest rising stars. Now she's got Field Day in her sights as well as a slew of other festival appearances between now and then, so come New Year's Day performing to mammoth crowds will be old hat to her. That isn't stopping us from being so excited to see her though, as her soft but powerful version of electro-pop combined with her sensational vocals will make for a brief but welcome push on the brake pedal at Field Day and a truly beautiful performance.

Shura

Shura is one of the many internationals on this lineup, and her sweet and intimate but upbeat pop music is one that the world can't get enough of. Taking inspiration from acts like RobynShura puts her own spin on pop music and breaths fresh air into the genre with her modern and progressive flourishes. She has a knack for some incredibly catchy lyrics too, so prepare yourself for some singalongs in this set too! Definitely one to keep an eye out for, Shura isn't slowing down any time soon and we have a feeling she is set for an even bigger year next year - so what better way to start it all off than giving it her all at Field Day!

Giraffage

Beatsmith and producer extraordinaire, Giraffage will be one of the absolute highlights of the day come January 1st! With his bootlegs and originals, he has made a name for himself as a force to be reckoned with on the stage, and we've got a feeling we've not seen anything yet. Having released music through tastemakers Fools Gold, Giraffage quickly became one of our favourite producers with his slew of online releases, and now it seems he's all grown up with a matured take on his lo-fi production that we fell in love with at the start. Set to have the crowd heaving with his groovy beats, this is not a set to miss!
