Live Review: Mndsgn introduces, Body Wash, with leading single, 'Cosmic Perspective'
LA beats head honcho, Mndsgn, has announced his second Stones Throw LP release, Body Wash, accompanied by the video to leading single, 'Cosmic Perspective'.
Sunny California is home to the strangely satisfying LA beat scene - a collective of forward-thinking beat makers bridging the gap from anything sitting in between hip hop, electronica, experimental, bass and R'n'B. A cross-pollination of elements to truly bend and challenge genre conventions, it's a scene that has masterfully remained weird and original, despite it's avid rise in popularity.
An artist practicing within this realm is, Ringgo Ancheta, otherwise known as MNDSGN (pronounced Mind Design). Freakishly talented in setting moods and creating narratives through soundscapes, the beatsmith is masked with a lo-fi demeanour, and is rather fond of the analogue format.
Picked up by hip hop connoisseurs Stones Throw upon moving to Los Angeles, Mndsgn has announced his second full-length release through the label, whilst simultaneously introducing us to its leading single and accompanying video, 'Cosmic Perspective'.

Afraid of triggering an unexpected jolt of fear, a cluster of beats apologetically creep up on us, as they are steered through the funk of a dense piano lead. Willfully adjusting to this becoming school of sound, we are visually directed by the conglomerate to an alien church of mind-shifting and existential questioning. Sitting among our fellow glittery members, the sudden voice of reason promotes cosmic energy, insinuating that all knowledge gained prior to entering this cult was to be discarded; it is the central, triangular portal in which you truly belong.
As stern in the belief of his statements as he is laissez-faire in the road you choose to take, Mndsgn sees all present members of, 'Cosmic Perspective' take the same journey, but which path is it they choose to see through?
Mndsgn's, 'Cosmic Perspective' is the leading single taken from his forthcoming record, Body Wash, due to drop on Friday, 16th September. To be released in Australia through Inertia via Stones Throw, the record tells the tale of a homeless man bathing in a foreign solution, gifted from a mysterious woman; which sees him transported to alternate dimensions.
