MOSSY’s Hungry For Love
I OH YOU‘s newest son, MOSSY has a tendency to make dark, emotive soundscapes that somehow still retain pop elements. Poetic statements riddle their way through his debut EP, MOSSY seamlessly weaves his eclectic tastes into a record as catchy as it is intricate.
A lover of the pop songwriting of The Beatles and poignant lyricism of Leonard Cohen as much as the noisy theatrics of The Horrors and Deerhunter, all of whom have the same passion for deep, and sometimes beautifully disturbing songs about love and love lost – we thought it best to get MOSSY in to create a playlist for the lovers out there.
Below you’ll find an eclectic mix of powerful statements and bouncy rhythms that’ll make you ‘Hungry For Love’. Just like MOSSY.
MARCHING CHURCH – HUNGRY FOR LOVE
“At times light footed and vulnerable. At others, desperate and feverish. Reminds me of a certain scene from Basketball Diaries.”
AMEN DUNES – SONG TO THE SIREN
“A harrowing Tim Buckley cover. Arms outstretched, “Come to me, let me enfold you”.”
GAP DREAM – STRONG LOVE
“Strong love won’t fall apart.”
I KNOW LEOPARD – ANOTHER LIFE
“Peacefully self evaluating and brimming with hope. Hits me hard “Like a sunken knife in my side””
SEEKAE – THE STARS BELOW
“My woman’s not an industry for your blues”.
JUNGLEPUSSY – ME
“Content with self-love? Me too. Sometimes.”
PIXIE ELIXIR – SO MUCH LUV 2 GIVE (DAEMO)
“Stumbled upon this retrospective hip hop demo out of Baltimore. Couldn’t dig anything else up about this guy other than the fact he’s a self proclaimed “Human piece of shit”.”
DROOL – END GIRL
“Endlessly cool and sexy. Love this song. One of my favourites from 2015. “Hurts right”? Sure does.”
THE DRONES – TO THINK THAT I ONCE LOVED YOU
“It’s all in the title with this one. Opens up real nice towards the end. Grandiose and heartbreaking.”
CONNAN MOCKASIN – WHY ARE YOU CRYING
“Cos you made me, Connan.”
