Live Review: The diverse and dense influences of Christopher Port

24 May 2016 | 3:06 pm | Staff Writer

We're extremely excited to have newcomer CHRISTOPHER PORT on our FBi Click show for a Guest Mix this week.

CHRISTOPHER PORT, remember the name kids. The Melbourne based producer will soon be one of the most in demand club acts across the country. We're extremely excited to have him on our FBi Click show for a Guest Mix this week.

His debut single, 'Bump', is a homage to UK Garage if you will, "Everything fires off in erratic patterns with a lot of repeating drum hits, the main lead being a cowbell that’s repeating really fast while being pitched up and down so it acts like a synth."

Although garage gets thrown around a lot with Christopher Port, the reason he has huge potential is because this love of the genre is infused with intricate and eclectic production, stepping away from the traditional sounds, and allowing his influences of pop, house and electronica shine through also.

Considering that the below mix features the heavy sounds of Martyn and Scuba alongside the dense soundscapes of Four Tet and Guerre - we can see how his debut EP may play out. At least, whilst we wait we can get deep with this mix.
