Live Review: Yoke Lore shares the first of many sonic stories with, 'Heavy Love'

2 March 2016 | 5:10 pm | Hannah Galvin

Adrian Galvin (of Yellerkin) has released 'Heavy Love' - the first single under his new project, Yoke Lore.

Yoke Lore

To say that, Adrian Galvin is a creative would be an extreme understatement. Aside from his parents' footing in the film industry, Galvin grew up with a proactive approach to painting, photography and ballet, before finding a distinct love for music. From playing in a variety of bands before settling as half of, Yellerkin, the artist has announced his solo project, Yoke Lore, through the release of his debut single, 'Heavy Love'.

Dismissing any time for an exclusively instrumental introduction, Yoke Lore enters the space vocally from the get go. At times incoherent due to the dramatic saturation of effects, the vocals have the potential to be appreciated solely as an instrument, for the gapey execution has been engineered in an ornate and pleasant fashion; which in turn allows greater space for interpretation. This ethereal exhalation groups with different strengths of guitars, percussion and electronic elements, alongside the regurgitation of further vocal tweaking.

A powerful debut, we're so excited to collect more stories from Yoke Lore as time unfolds. For a grasp of expectation, the artist has stated,

"Yoke Lore is about connections and contact. Music is a medium for communicating ideas and identities and stories.

Yoke Lore is a set of stories; a collection of mundane accounts of relationships between people and things. We use these stories both in times of dejection to find solace and in times of bliss in order to remember ourselves...

Yoke Lore is a mythical language that gives voice to all of us who at times cannot articulate why living is so tough."

'Heavy Love' is the debut single from Yoke Lore, and is to feature on the talent's forthcoming Far Shore EP; available through B3sci Records on Friday, 6th May (with EP artwork also crafted by Adrian Galvin).
