Live Review: Throwback to a live mix from Ta-Ku in Melbourne 2013

15 March 2016 | 2:26 pm | Staff Writer

As we take a week off from guest mixes, we look back at one of our favourite live mixes from the clubz. Ta-Ku circa 2013.

"When he's selling out Enmore's and whatever's, you can say I saw him for the first time in Melbourne at CANT SAY".

You know you're on the right track when you have Nina Las Vegas yelling out that above statement as you begin your very first Melbourne set. And almost as if she was a fortune teller, that man, TA-KU has gone onto absolutely massive things since he played in a sweaty tunnel underneath Melbourne's Flinders St Station in 2013.

Two EP's later; tracks with Jaden Smith, Charles Murdoch, Wafia et al. later; Future Classic & Fool's Gold releases later; there is literally no way in telling how far this masterful Perth producer will go.

But as he flies the flag for Aus producers across the globe, let's throw it back to 2013 and get behind this mix. Showcasing some of the darker, heavier hip-hop tendencies and influences behind early Ta-Ku works, this mix is party from start to finish.
