Live Review: PREMIERE: Wongo gives absolutely 'No Chill' on his Paces Remix
When WONGO started teasing a new remix with 'absolutely ZERO chill' was about to drop, we knew we were in for a treat and now we get to premiere his next piece of techno magic, a remix of fellow Queenslander PACES '1993 (No Chill.)'
If you're a Purple Sneakers veteran then Wongo will be a familiar name. He's an expert at taking a track, whether it be the R&B feels of the original '1993 (No Chill)' or a straight up pop anthem and turning it into a techno banger full of depth. He takes a killer track and makes it bigger and badder, making something you didn't know you needed till it was there.
The original '1993 (No Chill)' was all bouncing beats and RnB rhythm and Jess Kent's warm vocals. Wongo took the original apart and put it together again piece by piece until it was reborn as a 2am club-ready banger.

It's a song that will take you by surprise when it comes on, with a slow build up that begins with a quick beat to get the pulse going and only when Jess Kent's vocals, begin to creep into the track is it recognisable. Wongo teases the track out, slowly, slowly until finally that drop we were all waiting for hits.
Despite being undeniably a banger made for nighttime and club dance floors, the track is full of nuances and subtitles that aren't seen a lot in popular music anymore. Little changes in the music that you don't notice until they're at full volume are consistent throughout the song and make it a track to get you excited whether you're on the train headed to work and your morning coffee, in the middle of a Saturday night out or jamming in your car.
