Live Review: True Vibenation's Bheki turns heads and trumpets with new project, Moody

Bheki Mkzwananzi of True Vibenation has doubled up on his artistic endeavours by utilising his spare time to focus on a solo pursuit. Working under the name, MOODY, he's just released his wonderfully uplifting debut single, 'Say It Like You Own It'.

Taking us to a place of familiarity that exists outside of the studio, the aural commotion of a busy, social environment sings beneath the dabbling jungle beat. Expanded by the raw proceedings of a rung cowbell and muted keyline, contrasted by the cleanliness of electronics spiralling upward and onward, the soundscape of this build-up thickens before being thrown by the talented trumpet playing; by Moody himself.

Used for harmonies to spruce up the floor, the trumpet also takes a lead in introducing the feel-good angle of Moody's lyricism. Encompassing a positive spirit, 'Say It Like You Own It' is a tune of deserved confidence, rather than egotistical self-appraisal. Playing with electronic beats and traditional African drumming, 'Say It Like You Own It' exudes an extremely bright energy, leaving us excited for what is to land next.
