Live Review: Leisure Suite remind us of the pitfalls of a 'Heavy Head' with their latest video

It’s been a little while since Melbourne’s LEISURE SUITE dropped a hit our way.

When a musical duo is brought together primarily over their mutual love of fried food, something has to be right. It’s been a little while since Melbourne’s LEISURE SUITE dropped a hit our way, but they have finally returned with their soulful electronic sounds to deliver ‘Heavy Head’ and a dream like video to accompany it.

Directed by James J Robinson, the video for ‘Heavy Head’ perfectly compliments the blurred sounds and dazed lyrics of the track. It’s kind of like looking through a kaleidoscope at times in terms of both the visuals, and the track itself.

The vocals created by Leisure Suite singer Bridgette Le, bring to life the lyrics, that focus on the idea of a heavy head both it would seem that has been broken by a good old love spell, and also the oh so familiar hangover. The grain of the film gives it an old school appearance, and overall, between the lyrics and the visuals, it’s kind of reminiscent of 1960’s rock stars going on benders while on tour.

The track has a very chilled vibe to it, excluding the opening few moments which sound kind of like the score from a horror film. The beat emerges slowly, but overall something about the lyrics, percussion and sounds of the track all jar together, like that first glimpse of sun after a huge night jarring your entire physical being.

‘Heavy Head’ would actually be quite a good Sunday morning hangover soundtrack; minus the video because then everything would become chillingly real.

Leisure Suite has their second album due out later this month, and have also just been announced as apart of the inaugural line up for Shady Cottage Festival in April. 2016 is set to be huge for the duo.
