Live Review: Feki drops a huge remix of one of his favourite songs of 2015

FEKI is shaping up to crush 2016. First up on the agenda is this neat little remix of Vallis Alps’ track ‘Young'.

FEKI delivered what was unquestionably one of the strongest 2015’s we saw out of any up and coming artist. Bringing in the New Year at Beyond The Valley, 2016 is shaping up to crush 2015. First up on the agenda is this neat little remix of Vallis Alps’ track ‘Young”.

Working with an original track Feki considers a “masterpiece”, he has certainly created a whole new song, without letting the original fall by the wayside. He’s taken it and added in a darker tone, with an ever so slight distortion on the voice, sparse percussion and some interesting sounds dropping in and out.

Feki’s remixes are really what has built him his reputation as a bit of a tastemaker. It can be a tricky business to take something that is loved by many, and someone else’s labour of love, and just make it different. His attitude is obviously not that he wants to make it better, just that he wans to open it up to a completely new audience, and spin the genre ever so slightly.

‘Young’ is a beautiful example of this. The original track certainly has a different flow to it, with an angelic undertone. Feki has taken the flow, and given it a darker edge, taking it from easy listening, to early morning groove when you get lost in the beat.

Feki is off on a tour around Australia later this month, so you can bare witness to this magic yourself:
