Live Review: SoundCloud Wrap: Jesse Davidson

3 November 2015 | 11:46 am | Caitlin Medcalf

Released only a few weeks ago, he's already locked in some tour dates to promote the EP. So we were super excited to hear what he's been listening to.

Proving a few years ago now that this young gun is in it for the long haul, JESSE DAVIDSON's shown absolutely no signs of slowing down. If anything, he's only just getting started.

The Adelaide based vocalist has been relentless in his touring schedule, output and even collaborative efforts. 2014 saw him release his debut EP and set out on his first national headline tour, just a year after graduating from high school. More recently, he's collaborated with Luke Million for the huge hit single 'Fear The Night'.

Although he may be comparatively quite young, his sound is definitely one that feels so complete and well rounded. This sound has definitely carried on to his latest offering, an EP titled Lizard Boy.

Feeling a little more electronica than previously, it's definitely a reflection of his experiences and the producers he's worked with along the way.

Released only a few weeks ago, he's already locked in some tour dates to promote the EP. So naturally, we were super excited to hear what Jesse's been listening to as of late. The result: some of the most blissed out, and jazzed up numbers we've heard in a while.

Nothing's Gonna Hurt You by Cigarettes After Sex

This is a very cool song. Really enjoy the space and tone of the voice. Also, very cool band name. It's five thumbs up for me on this one.

Propaganda by Sean Nicholas Savage

I only started listening to this guy a couple weeks ago but this song is incredible. He's got a really good voice and style and the harmonies are beautiful. Ten out of ten orphans for me.

Pacific Cruise by Foreign/National

This song makes me feel like I'm in a 70s cop show, and I like it. 12 boxes of popcorn out of 12.

Desert Raven by Jonathan Wilson

This song has a real nice groove to it, reminds me a bit of America (the band not the country). One point for every harmonised guitar lick in the song.

Low Profile by $$YOUNG TROUBLE$$

My favourite East Bris rapper by a long shot. 10/10.

Radiovoice by Good Morning

This song is very pretty. Really into the chords. Reminds me of a lo-fi Tobias Jesso Jr. I'm giving it two fair shakes of the sauce bottle and a sausage sanga.

Oh Loretta! by Sex On Toast

This is a terrific song, they really nailed the seductive aesthetic on this one and it's a total banger. It's a great song to cook pasta to as well (I know from experience).

Eyes Together by Dan Croll

The arrangement of this song is pure class, very reminiscent of the beatles in the best way possible.

In A Phantom Mood by Shintaro Sakamoto

This guy is incredible. Amazing stuff from him, it's a pity it's kind of difficult to find much of his stuff outside of Japan. His previous band Yura Yura Teikoku are also really cool.

Curious Sleep by BROKERS

Ahh, my favourite jazz electronic band from Adelaide. This song is truly akin to a spicy meatball; succulent, saucy, and goes well with a glass of red wine. It also sounds a bit like Zero 7. Ten pieces of spicy pepperoni pizza for me on this one.
