Live Review: Jones 'Hoops'

11 November 2015 | 3:45 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

JONES has given us a taste of her forthcoming album now in the form of 'Hoops'.

This one comes straight from the approval of Sam Smith himself. London gal JONES has been making huge waves across the blogosphere, with her winning combination of skilled vocals and out of the ordinary production.

She's got a new album on the way, and it's going to be released in Autumn 2016 (Spring in the US). Titled New Skin, it's the debut offering from the vocalist.

She's given us a taste of the album now in the form of 'Hoops'. Produced by XO and Josh Record, she's enlisted the help of fellow up and comers for this gorgeous, introspective number.

There's a real sense of strength within her vocals, but not so that it feels punchy. More controlled, yet animated. She's a master at her craft, you can absolutely tell from the get go.

What stands out most to me about this track is the hook. It's catchy and infectious, and definitely does justice to the nature of her vocals. She's ultimately set herself up for this interesting mish mash of pop, RnB and elements of dance.

Jones is destined for huge things, and if the people she's been heralded by as well as the success she's already garnered are any indication of where she's headed, it's going to be a wild ride.
