With a unique ability to blend dark production with pop influenced vocals, we introduce to you FONTINE.

With a unique ability to blend dark production with pop influenced vocals, we introduce to you FONTINE. Based on the NSW Central Coast, this producer and vocalist created his stormy debut ‘New’ from his home studio.

Co-produced by George Nicholas (Seekae) New’ could not be a better offering for a debut. Fontine claims influence from the likes of The National, Nick Cave and Jack Ladder on the vocal side of things, and Crystal Castles and Goldfrapp for production inspiration. The National influence is particularly evident in the vocals of ‘New’.

'New' has that kind of hazy sound like you might hear in an 80’s movie where someone is lost on a hot day, and sees mirages all round. Despite this, there is a consistent beat giving the track its dance vibe. This suits the lyrics, which describe a confusing and intoxicating world.

Fontine’s voice is deep and it puts you into a trance, blurring the hazy retro sounds with the intoxicating world being described.

This is our first dose of Fontine. A clip is due to be released for ‘New’ in the coming weeks, and his debut EP is due out early next year too. In the meantime, you can get a dose of Fontine as he supports the likes of SAFIA, Boo Seeka, Surfdisco, Rare Finds, and Mar Haze in his debut shows in December.
