Anyone who owned a cassette in the 90’s would be more than familiar with Delirium’s ‘Silence’, featuring the powerful and ethereal vocals of Sarah Mclachlan. Aussie duo SUNSET CHILD have remade this classic track, put together a sweet video, and have been given the nod of approval for their efforts by the legend himself. Not bad for a debut track!

Sunset Child is the combination of two very talented Melburnians, Charlie Thorpe and Jorj Pats, who have been working together on various music projects for three years. Despite both keeping busy on a multitude of musical and creative projects they finally had the epiphany to start releasing the music they had created together, and here Sunset Child was born.

Sunset Child have turned ‘Silence’ into a brooding house track with some spectacular saxophone riffs, dark piano chords, and funky percussion. Thorpe’s voice adds to the brooding feel, and you get the feeling of an old school groove track as the saxophone rings out.

The video for ‘Silence’ was filmed in the Joshua Tree National Park in America. The desert setting sits perfectly with the sounds of the track and it’s everything you think of when you imagine a cross-country road trip during the better years of music (AKA the 90’s). There is a very long summer day type of feel, and the black and white tones of the clip kind of add to a mysterious and very sexy aura.

Collaborating with well-known LA based producer Dennis White, the duo has an EP in the works. In the meantime ‘Silence’ is getting remixed by the likes of GT and Wildfire and Alex Preston. The pair is hoping to play some shows in Australia very soon, so keep your eyes on them.

‘Silence’ is out now through Ultra Music.
