Live Review: LUCIANBLOMKAMP 'From Afar' (Official Video)

11 October 2015 | 6:09 pm | Emma Jones

Melbourne's Lucianblomkamp does things a little differently, but that's why he's so good, and the film clip for his track 'From Afar' is no different.

Second albums can sometimes be a difficult task, but Melbourne producer LUCIANBLOMKAMP is doing a pretty good job at showing that he's more than ready for his sophomore release. Following on from his 2014 release, Post NatureLucianblomkamp is now gearing up for the release of Bad Faith, and has just made us extremely excited with his new video for 'From Afar'.

On first listen, one could read into the lyrics of 'From Afar' that the track is about being disconnected from the outside world, but in this clip, the story lies with being disconnected from yourself. Focusing on a woman, the clip shows her in an unsettling light. Lonely, slow moving, totally disconnected from everything including herself, this clip gives 'From Afar' a whole new meaning, and adds even more emotional depth to the already impressively deep track.

Teaming up with director Tess Hutson for the clip, she said of the video, "The track is about feeling disconnected from other people, and while some of our initial thoughts were very external, we wanted to see what would happen if our character kept her turmoil within herself. This leaves the viewer to decide what’s going on in the character’s head, let alone what has happened to her to lead to this outcome." A match made in heaven, this clip blows all expectations, no matter how high, well and truly out of the water.

Lucianblomkamp's Bad Faith LP will be due out early 2016 via Good Manners/Caroline. Until then though, you can catch the man in action later this month as he embarks on an East Coast tour in support of his latest single.
