Live Review: Little May's Essential Flying Playlist

9 October 2015 | 11:53 am | Tom Hutchins

LITTLE MAY know what it's like to be stuck on a terrible plane ride, and they've devised the perfect flying playlist for you.

Long haul flights are tough. There's no leg room, there are kids around being annoying, there's nowhere to walk when your legs are hurting from the lack of legroom, the food makes you ill. To be honest, the only good things are the included TV and a good playlist of tunes.

LITTLE MAY are a band who are in the midst of these kinds of travels, as they support the release of their debut album, For The Company, with a massive tours across the UK and Europe, as well as a national tour just gone. So they know what it's like to be stuck on a terrible plane ride, and they've devised the perfect flying playlist for you.

Other Lives  'Reconfiguration'

I am in love with this album. I love the main guitar riff here, and the subtle spaghetti western vibe. This song is dark and heavy but it still has a groove to it.

Father John Misty - The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment

If there is one musician I want to have conversation with it would be Father John Misty. His lyrics are so blatantly honest and sarcastic, but the beauty of his music could almost make you miss the fact that he is saying something completely hilarious about society.

Vast 'Touched'

One of my favourite songs. It reminds me of the movie 'The Beach'. I think it was on the soundtrack. An epic song with awesome 90s tropical vibes (whatever that means).

Kurt Vile  'Pretty Pimpin''

I'm just getting into this album. This song leaped out at me when I first heard it, for obvious reasons. Kurt Vile is so cool.

Thom Yorke 'Nose Grows Some'

For some reason this song is my go to song when I am either lying on a beach (which isn't often), or on a plane. It makes me feel weird, in the best way. It makes me think. Thom Yorke does that in general though.

Porcupine Tree 'Sentimental'

This song is perfect to listen to on a plane. It's relaxing, but epic. Awesome drums, beautiful piano and killer melodies and chorus.

Tame Impala 'Let It Happen'

No matter how many times I hear it, I will never get sick of hearing this song (And the whole album for that matter).

The Vaccines 'Minimal Affection'

We supported The Vaccines in the US at the beginning of the year. This was my favourite song in their set. It has such a good vibe.

Sheryl Crow 'If It Makes You Happy'

I love listening to this song on the plane. It makes me feel so much better, especially when I'm sad about leaving behind loved ones.

For The Company is out today via Dew Process/UMA.
