Live Review: Zone Out 'Inside'
Melbourne duo Zone Out (Totally Mild, ScotDrakula) have released just their second track ever with 'Inside' - a dreamy, gentle exercise in synth pop.
Take one part Totally Mild and one part ScotDrakula, with some added Beach House/Yumi Zouma flourishes and an extra hint of cool. Mix together with some starry dream pop sensibilities and you get Melbourne duo ZONE OUT and their latest track 'Inside'. Delicate and gentle, 'Inside' is completely different from their already existing projects, but could well make this duo a lot of people's favourite out of them all.
Starting off with some soft keys, Ashley Bundang's dulcet voice floats over crisp clicking beats and shimmering synths. Singing of "seeing all the things from the inside," the track is almost melancholic with it's pensive and forlorn verses.
The track really comes to a head with it's chorus, featuring everything falling back apart from some rolling drums and Bundang's dreamy voice. Ending with some gentle guitar work, you're left feeling warm and soft, and also with the feeling that something big is going to come from this.

Joining the ranks at Deaf Ambitions alongside Leisure Suite and Crepes, big things are guaranteed on the horizon for Zone Out. With the stark differences between this and their other bands, the duo sound perfectly at home in the dreampop arena, and we can only hope that's where they stay for a long time to come.
