Live Review: Feki 'Quiet Minds' Ft. Emily

FEKI is a name you can bet you'll be hearing a lot more of very, very soon. The Brisbane producer is keeping a consistently excellent output of releases, and his latest track 'Quiet Minds' is no exception. Powerful and emotive, Feki has teamed up with singer EMILY for one of his strongest releases yet.

Taking note from the likes of Ta-Ku, Kaytranada or even Ryan Hemsworth, Feki is the latest in the string of producers who are able to capture a certain emotional element in their music. Teaming up with Emily (who sings in Brisbane band YUUCA, of which Feki is also a member), the emotional is only amplified through her ghostly voice here on 'Quiet Minds'.

Keeping it fresh and lush, Feki makes it almost sound easy to make tracks this nice. Forming a swirling and ambient soundscape around Emily's voice, the song is like whisps of smoke slowly spinning in the air. Dreamy but commanding, the song almost transcends in it's ability to transport the listener to a higher place. Gentle in lyrics and vocals, but still strong and sporadic in it's production, Feki and Emily both shine through on this track.

We were expecting great things from Feki when we picked him as an artist to watch for this year, and now it seems he is hellbent on proving us right. 'Quiet Minds' is an outstanding follow up release to his previous single 'Remember', and after appearing at the Brisbane leg of Listen Out as well as OutsideIn, it's really only a matter of time before Feki becomes the household name we know he can be.
