Live Review: PREMIERE: Gallu$ 'Versatile/Apathetic' (Official Video)

When you listen to lush music, it tends to evoke lush visions. So this video accompaniment for GALLU$' latest single is spot on.

So we don't tread on similar territory, here's what we said about the single itself: the natural flow is perfectly complemented by Thovobeats lush sounds; from the slight crackle at the start and old time keys in the first half, with it’s classic hip hop beats, to the sudden but sublime change into the second half with it’s chilled-out, lo-fi vibe and dreamy piano melodies. Fierce but still laid back, Gallu$ sounds at home on the mic and, although it’s an ambitious release, he has totally pulled it off.

Collaborating with Maria Bui for the visual element, there's an emphasis on creating something that matches the soothing cinematic instrumentation. Following Gallu$ and his crew at a lake in the middle of nowhere, the camera dips in and out of focus, blending the figures themselves with the tranquil sun-stroked greenery behind them. Just as the tracks flow together, the video is seamless in it's way to transition from boating on the lake to standalone shots of Gallu$ smashing out his verses on the banks.

Bliss. Pure bliss.
