Lately we have been introducing you to the talents of the UK’s CONNIE CONSTANCE. In the lead up to releasing her debut EP In The Grass she has dropped the video for her original debut track ‘Stars’, moving us between reality and a safety net of escapism.

Connie Constance’s background was in dance and poetry writing before she moved to singing, and both of these skills are evident throughout this clip. As usual she has teamed up with Blue Daisy, who describes the track as “the intro to a new chapter in our creative purposes on this earth”.

‘Stars’ is a track about creating a safety net where you can hide away from your problems and fears. The video shows any 20 year old's life. It's not always rainbows, it can be fun, sad, dull, and anything in between. Most of the time you want to be somewhere else, with someone else, doing something else. The world under the stars where everything really is different, it’s better.

The video launches you into this different world through Connie Constance showing her dancing talent. She wakes up in her own universe, with long grass and a beast, reminiscent of Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are interpretation. The beast is both her friend and foe; they dance together and dream together. The beast appears menacing, but seems to have a heart made from golden stars.

The theme fits beautifully with the lyrics “Life is but a child’s game, dancing to the beat of my heart". The costuming is like that of a fairy floating, and dancing is a form of escapism to the time when childhood innocence was filled with wide eyed optimism.

In The Grass EP is due out September 25.
