Live Review: Wallace 'Vinyl Skip' (Tyler Touche Remix)

19 September 2015 | 11:30 am | Emma Jones

Tyler Touché has remixed one of the best voices in the country with Wallace's 'Vinyl Skip', turning the soulful track into a late night house jam.

Brisbane producer TYLER TOUCHÉ has long since stepped out of the shadow cast by his breakout track 'Baguette', and is hellbent on showing he is more than just a one hit wonder. Because of this, he has been delivering a stream of consistently brilliant tracks, and has become a personal favourite of mine.

His latest release, a remix of WALLACE's 'Vinyl Skip', once again demonstrates his ability as a producer as he spins the once soulful number into a bouncing late night house jam. Wallace's undeniable voice is rich and mellow, husky and textured, and Tyler has done her complete justice in his rework.

Touché himself said of his rework, "It was interesting to take Wallace’s strong, soulful vocal and repurpose it in a different context, as more of a smooth, late night, sultry house track. That’s the kind of music I was listening to lots of at the time, and I love to take risks and experiment with new sounds. To me, it’s much more fulfilling."

Minimal and simplistic, Touché went for the "less is more" approach and hit the nail on the head. Still leaving the emotion and soulful feel that is inescapable with Wallace's vocals, he blends this with his natural house sounds to create one of the better remixes I've heard in quite some time. Spacious, upbeat, dubby but still relaxed, Tyler Touché is all grown up and now, his music shows.
