5 September 2015 | 9:00 am | Madeline Kilby

Meet KADINGTON whose debut EP has been released to coincide with ‘Breakneck’, a video game the duo has recorded the soundtrack for, and feature in. Cool huh

Purple Sneakers reports on new musicians, releasing new music all the time. Often it’s unique, interesting, bizarre, down right clever and many more adjectives. Every once in a while though, something very different comes along. Meet KADINGTON whose debut EP ‘Don’t Kick The Cat’ has been released to coincide with the release of ‘Breakneck’, a video game the duo has recorded the soundtrack for, and feature in. Cool huh?

Other than this neat little game fact there isn’t much more known about Kadington. They are a future bass project that have been working together for a while, but have only just launched into the music world officially. The EP has been released in a cloud of mystery, which really just adds to their cool factor.

The EP features 4 tracks, plus a bonus track straight out of the video game. First up is ‘Rise And Fall’, and like the name might suggest, combined with an oriental sound, the synths and beats rise and fall, taking you on an emotional rollercoaster.

‘Ghetto Blaster’ does remind you of something you might have listened to on a cassette straight out of your bedroom ghetto blaster. It also sounds a lot like something you might hear in a video game as the characters run in and out of trouble. It has a very distinct early 90’s vibe blended seamlessly with modern electronica.

‘Town Hustle’ heads in a slightly different direction, giving out a bit of a hip hop vibe. Finally ‘Candyman’ has both a sugary sound, and the sounds building up to a peak of impending doom, like Candyman is a coming for you. All up you can certainly say Kadington have created a story with this EP and named their tracks perfectly.

You can grab ‘Don’t Kick The Cat’ EP now on iTunes, and for the video game fans you can ‘Breakneck’ right here.
