The latest graduate from this Perth electronica scene is ELK ROAD, delivering the atmospheric ‘Not To Worry’ ft. GOVERNORS as his debut release.

It seems that Perth has becoming a breeding ground for producers. The latest graduate from this school of electronica is ELK ROAD, delivering the atmospheric ‘Not To Worry’ ft. GOVERNORS as his debut release, after receiving raging applause from under the Red Bull Music Academy Tent at Splendour In The Grass this year.

Elk Road, known to his family as Rory Garton Smith, has been slowly building an army of fans online. Collaborating with Slumberjack on a series of remixes, they felt the lovin’ from Skrillex’s Select Series with Nina Las Vegas. All in all a pretty impressive resume considering ‘Not To Worry’ is the first official release of his own work.

‘Not To Worry’ sees Elk Road collaborating with Governors to produce a powerful piece of music. The vocals could easily have a different musical backing and be straight off a London Grammar album. Combined with the production prowess of Elk Road, the often layered and muted vocals become a part of a funky, unique piece of electronica. With a tune that hits some decent high notes blending with the lower synth sounds, sharp percussion and muted xylophones, ‘Not To Worry’ creates both a funky groove and some added sense of darkness to compliment the Governors vocals.

The inspiration behind the track is pretty apparent to us all in a multi screen, hectic world; it’s about rediscovering yourself despite all this. Elk Road emphasises “sometimes you need to go and find yourself by moving outside your comfort zone”, this is exactly what he does with his music. Elk Road is definitely one to give a stalk on Soundcloud.
