Live Review: Charles Murdoch 'Frogs' Ft. Ta-Ku, Wafia and Hak

25 September 2015 | 10:02 am | Emma Jones

Future Classic up-and-comer Charles Murdoch shows that his two-year hiatus wasn't all for nothing with the second track off his forthcoming album, 'Frogs'.

Brisbane producer CHARLES MURDOCH has released another track from his forthcoming LP, in the form of 'Frogs'. Following the release of his track 'Straws', this time he has opted for live vocals courtesy of fellow Brisbanite WAFIA, NYC-based MC HAK and - perhaps most surprisingly - prolific Perth producer, TA-KU.

For the first time ever, Ta-Ku has now shown off the incredible set of pipes he possesses, sounding right at home with Wafia's one-of-a-kind croon and Hak's relaxed flow. The powerhouse trio are perfectly complimented with Murdoch's masterful production. The man is clearly on a mission to show that his two year hiatus was indeed put to good use.

Compelling, unpredictable and encompassing a whole lot of different sounds and textures, Murdoch keeps it fresh with 'Frogs'. All four artists sound so perfect not only together, but in their own individual rights as well, you'd be forgiven for wanting an album full of tracks like this. A stunning blend, with Murdoch at the wheel - how could it NOT fail?

There is no confirmed date for Charles Murdoch's forthcoming LP, but I guess we can at least excite at the fact that it is meant to be on the way. Until then, you can catch him at OutsideIn Festival in Sydney this weekend, or our US readers can catch him in action on the Future Classic USA tour next month. Let's hope this waiting game ends really soon.
