Live Review: RaRa 'Faries'

17 August 2015 | 10:25 am | Emma Jones

Melbourne group RaRa have well and truly returned with the release of their latest single 'Faries' and the announcement of their new EP, 'PLANET2016'.

It's been a long time between drinks for Melbourne hip hop group RARA, but thankfully the wait is over and they are back in our ears and minds with the release of their latest single 'Faries'. Out of this world both in content and in sound, 'Faries' marks the group's exciting return to the scene and a huge step forward.

'Faries' is the first release from RaRa since their EP Pink and Teal last year, and you can really tell they've been working hard and are now ready to show off what they've done since. Said to signal "a journey into new territory", the boys literally go intergalactic with 'Faries', unveiling the concept of their next EP PLANET2016.

Combining rap, electronica, R&B and more, RaRa have honed in on what they're good at and built on it - sounding accomplished and refined. From the intelligent lyrics, the warped vocals, the hard hitting beats and the synth flourishes, 'Faries' is a genre-blending, intergalactic party tune with a lot of promise.

RaRa will be touching down at BIGSOUND next month, with their PLANET2016 EP dropping next month via Zero Through Nine. Let's hope the weird and wonderful vibes continue, because we are loving what we've heard so far!
