MOON BOOTS has teamed up with Brooklyn songstress JANELLE KROLL to take you on a trip with their track ‘Utopia’, and it would seem making it to paradise is just one galactic, nu-disco trip away from our happy little ears.

Moon Boots, aka Peter Dougherty, has been producing cosmic edged music since 2011, but more recently he has put together a number of remixes. He has started working on his own stuff again and we hope he keeps churning more out. Teaming up with Brooklyn based singer/songwriter Janelle Kroll has given ‘Utopia’ a more soulful, pop edged, approach to the galactic sound to create something playful.

‘Utopia’ opens with a bright, futuristic synthesizers and a hollow kick-drum percussion line. The spacey edge is evident, however with many people visualising their personal Utopia as an island paradise there is also a feel of summertime and beaches, maybe even a hint of the sounds of the Caribbean if they were meshed with electronica.

As Kroll’s vocals enter the track there is a slight darkness to them. Singing the lyrics in a deep tone they tell a slightly darker tale than the music itself. As the track progresses though a brighter spark shines through the track, giving it a distinctly pop feel. You could say the darker side to the vocals represents people unable to imagine a Utopia.

You can grab your piece of galactic ‘Utopia’ now on iTunes. It’s probably easier than trying to claim your seat on a rocket, and definitely more cost effective than an overseas plane ride.
