Live Review: Bunki 'The Day We Almost'

10 August 2015 | 11:54 am | Emma Jones

London producer BUNKI has just released a brand new double single this week, with the minimal, staggering but very exciting new track 'The Day We Almost'.

London producer BUNKI has made a name for himself due to his manipulated and eclectic electronica, and is known for taking his listeners on an unpredictable aural journey to say the least. Now, with the release of his latest track 'The Day We Almost', that reputation is further cemented, as he becomes one of the more exciting experimental producers to pop up in the burgeoning London scene.

Static rain, stuttered synth melodies, a plethora of beat samples and a meandering direction is what 'The Day We Almost' is made up of, and the combination of these elements makes for a really interesting experience. It immediately grabs your attention, and continues to do so as you become more and more enthralled in what is being laid down. Bunki's creativity is set loose to run free, and by doing so he pushes - and eventually breaks down - any boundaries still left around him and his music.

Starting off quite minimal, 'The Day We Almost' slowly picks up the pace as more is added to it. From the wandering first nearly three minutes of it to the peak at about 2:52 where everything comes together, it lets go in an exhilarating way and is perhaps indicative of where Bunki is headed as a producer.
