Live Review: SOUNDCLOUD WRAP: Grrl Pal

30 July 2015 | 12:50 pm | Staff Writer

We wanted to know more about Grrl Pal - so we managed to get Danny to tell us what the band is influenced by for another SoundCloud Wrap

Perth's GRRL PAL are quickly becoming a favourite amongst Australian electronic fans. They've been working tirelessly since the start of 2015, releasing a song every single month to massive support from blogs and punters alike. Along the way they've also supported Gang Of Youths, The Jungle Giants, and Crooked Colours.

It's no surprise really, as Danny K and Jay Le Kat, have made a name for themselves thanks to their upbeat, slightly off-centre synth pop gems. We said of one of their singles "Danny K‘s meticulous layering and subtle intricacies in the production, as well as Le Kat‘s tremendous ability to get her voice stuck in your head for days sets them apart from other electro/synth/dream pop acts, into something entirely their own."

We wanted to know more about Grrl Pal - and thanks to wonderful technological advances, we managed to get Danny to tell us what the band is influenced by for another SoundCloud Wrap... which he did on his phone... whilst at Splendour In The Grass. Fantastic stuff all round!

10/10 excited for this album

Perth represent! Super excited about these guys! The smaller baby version, Child's Play, supported us for our Paradise EP launch and it was great!

Another Perth favourite!

Such a perfect genre mash!

Jai Paul 'BTSTU'

Excited to hear anything from this guy!

Raury 'Cigarette Song'

We lived in ATL for a while last year! He is probably our favorite other than...

ILOVEMAKONNEN 'Tuesday' Ft. Drake

This track was blowing up in ATL while we were there, we saw Drake announce that he'd signed Makonnen at a Drake concert!

Catch Grrl Pal in Sydney tomorrow night for Rare Finds #4. The monthly night will return to The Standard Bowl, this time showcasing an all female line-up headlined by Sydney-based electronic-pop songstress, SOLO, and local indie-electronic favourites AViVA both sharing the bill with Grrl Pal.
