Live Review: GoldLink ‘Dance On Me’ (PYRMDPLAZA Remix)

We’ve been giving GoldLink a lot of time recently at Purple Sneakers, and rightly so, thanks to tracks like ‘Sober Thoughts’ and his ‘Aquafina’ collaboration with Falcons.

We’ve been giving GOLDLINK a lot of time recently at Purple Sneakers, and rightly so, thanks to tracks like ‘Sober Thoughts’ and his ‘Aquafina’ collaboration with Falcons.

GoldLink is bringing something quite unique to rap at the moment – he once described his style as ‘Rick James meets Justin Timberlake (*NSYNC days) with Backstreet Boys and a little D12 and Tupac’. All good things.

His raps incorporate eclectic genres like bachata, go-go music and classic house. The PYRMDPLAZA remix of ‘Dance On Me’ plays up to the latter of these, amping up the house beats to create a sound that you might be inclined to describe as ‘future bounce’.

UK producer PYRMDPLAZA’s version of ‘Dance On Me’ offers us a jumped up house beat with a laid back East coast flow from the young rapper. The GoldLink track seems to be one of PYRMDPLAZA’s most high profile remixes to date, although listening to his Soundcloud it’s clear that he’s long been working within the realms of hip hop and house.

Somehow he’s managed to take GoldLink’s original and make it even bouncier, even more head-boppy and even more appropriate for a summertime house party. Have a listen below:
