Live Review: Richie Quake 'Slow Down' (Official Video)

RICHIE QUAKE has been making better and better - for lack of a more fitting genre - lo-fi pop over the past two years, and his latest track 'Slow Down' may just be his best yet. The mesmerising, DIY feel to his tracks make for hypnotic but also relatable and accessible feel - a feel that is also carried out with his visuals. 

To describe it as just "lo-fi pop" is not nearly enough, as the tracks are uniquely produced with plunging bass and intricate samples, as well as Quake RnB styled vocals and, in the case of 'Slow Down', seriously sexy and intimate lyrics. With each release, he further hones his sound into something unclassifiable, but so damn enjoyable.

The official video for 'Slow Down' see's Quake and his friends dancing around a house, filmed on what looks like borderline ancient video equipment. The intentional use of this perfectly fits the aesthetic is Richie and his friends, as well as the overlying crackle of the track. Even though the track and clip is quite downtempo, it still feels like a lot of fun, with it's warm and rich synths playing whilst girls dance on beds.

It's unclear what is still to come from Quake, but something tells me that it will be even better still. Continually pushing himself and therefore remaining fresh and relevant, Richie Quake is definitely one of the most exciting and promising acts I've heard in a long time.
