With ‘Magnifique’ due for release soon, Brooklyn duo, RATATAT, have come up with a next level clever animated video for their latest track ‘Abrasive’.

With their fifth studio album, Magnifique, due for release on July 17th, Brooklyn duo, RATATAT, have come up with a next-level-clever animated video for their latest track ‘Abrasive’.

Depicting movement of all kinds, from walking to sports, wheels, birds flying, fireworks exploding and some excellent dance moves, the clip for ‘Abrasive’ is made up of over 4000 drawings put together by Ratatat’s very own E.VAX.

The tune itself plays on Ratatat’s signature guitar sound with dense layers of guitar sounds put together. There are as many as 30 separate guitar lines blended together at any given time. A keen eye will spot drawings of men playing guitar within the clip and these drawings were made during the recording of these layered and yet perfectly harmonious, guitars.

All in all you can say Ratatat are some very clever dudes. From art whizzes to musical genius they appear to have it all covered. Magnifique has been a labour of love for the past four years. Ratatat’s exact words on the length of time this has taken to record are brutally honest: “Because it’s instrumental music, you can’t just be half-assed with the music”. This tells us more than enough about the quality of this upcoming album.

Magnifique is out July 17th and can be pre-ordered on iTunes.
