Live Review: Slumberjack 'Horus' (Hatch Remix)

1 June 2015 | 10:54 am | Emma Jones

Sydney-sider Hatch is the next contender to remix Slumberjack, whipping their tune 'Horus' into a chaotic storm somehow packing more punch than the original

Perth duo Slumberjack are currently setting an example of how to kill it right now, smashing tours left, right and centre having dropped their self-titled EP with their best work yet last year. Their hard hitting, trap styled dance music makes for instant dancefloor fillers, and they are quickly becoming one of the biggest acts in the country.

The boys are also no strangers to remixes, but it's often the case of them putting their own spin on someone else's track. However, this time Sydney-sider HATCH has stepped up to take on the monster that is 'Horus', turning it into a hip hop destroyer, packed with even more punches than the original.

One of our Artists to Watch for this year, Hatch is still relatively new to the scene, but has pulled off an epic job with this rework of 'Horus'. Piling on the bass, Hatch somehow makes 'Horus' roar even more than the original - and that is not an easy feat to do. Plunging it into the the underground, Hatch whips up a frenzied storm that reaches a fever pitch, before suddenly calming it all down with some dramatic piano chords, like the clouds finally parting after the chaos.

Hatch's remix comes as part of an official remix EP, which also features NghtmreTrumpdisco and UZSlumberjack are currently touring 'round the country on Alison Wonderland's Warehouse Party tour, having just finished up their own headline tour earlier this year. The remix EP is out now.
