I think the hardest thing about production is creating the illusion of atmosphere. Not in the synthetic sense, but in the sense that you’re creating sounds that would accompany one in certain circumstances under certain influences.

You may know him as NAKAGIN, but he’s just recently changed his name to PENDANT. The Sydney producer has a real knack for doing just this; creating an incredible array of sounds that accomplish an almost heightening of the senses.

His sound is delicate, and is most notably featured within his latest single since his name change, ‘Rev’.

It’s incredibly clean, and is brought back to a dance vibe with the trap-esque hi hat that features however the beauty is in its subtlety. It wasn’t brought in to dominate the incredible sound palette, but it is utilised more as a way to give the song pace and to drive it forward into this incredibly warped, delicate pattern of sound progression.

Pendant’s EP, Dwell, was put out around 6 months ago through Silo Records, and since then he’s been quite quiet since, so I guess we’re just super stoked to hear that he’s making these sounds again.
