Live Review: PREMIERE: Nutrition 'Soluppgang (Pt. 1)'

4 June 2015 | 10:19 am | Emma Jones

After five months of going between Melbourne and Byron Bay, electro duo Nutrition are ready to release the first track off their EP, 'Soluppgång (Pt. 1)'.

We at Purple Sneakers pride ourselves on the quality tracks we bring you every day, regardless of play counts, likes or followers. We're in it for the music, and that's what we strive to do. So, when a undiscovered gem turns up in our inbox, it's a very good thing indeed.

That is why we are over the moon to premiere the first listen of new material from the duo NUTRITION, and their track 'Soluppgång (Pt. 1)'. After a five month project which saw the boys travelling between Byron Bay and Melbourne, they've fine-tuned their efforts into an EP, and this is the first release from those efforts.

'Soluppgång (Pt. 1)' is a 9-minute sprawling number that could only be described as "epic". Considered and calculated, but also feeling completely natural, 'Soluppgång (Pt. 1)' is a big step forward for Nutrition. Pounding beats, laser sounds and swelling synths open the track, before it continues to work it's way through a variety of different electronic styles.

Not sticking to any one genre, they show their promising and obviously burgeoning talents as the track moves freely through an almost techno feel to UK club trance, with everything in between. Describing themselves as "the growth from nostalgic beginnings into the sophisticated world of rousing electronic production", it's easy to understand when you listen to this song.

Nutrition have already supported Classixx, despite having just two tracks released last year, as well as performing at the Die High Records showcase at last year's Electronic Music Conference. 'Soluppgång (Pt. 1)' is the first track from their forthcoming EP, Conditions, and it will be great to see what they can achieve with a few more songs under their belt - especially if they're as good as this one!
