Live Review: Leisure 'Hot Love'

10 June 2015 | 2:38 pm | Emma Jones

Anonymous Auckland act Leisure have finally dropped the follow up to their huge debut single 'Got It Bad', with the sexy and smooth track 'Hot Love'.

After unsuspectingly dropping their first single 'Got It Bad', the Internet's response to New Zealand's LEISURE was so quick it could well have given them whiplash. Practically exploding over night, the mysterious band hit over 100,000 plays in just one month, and now they're set to do it again with their new song 'Hot Love'.

Following on from their impossibly smooth debut, Leisure pick up right where they left off with 'Hot Love'. Groovy, funky and playful, there is something just so good about the sounds Leisure make that you can't pass up.

Taking inspiration from jazz, psych and even a tinge of dance music, 'Hot Love' could easily stand it's ground beside the works of Tame ImpalaToro Y Moi or even Gorillaz based on the grooves that have been laid down here. It's slow but steady, downtempo but feel good, and sexy enough to support a track title like this.

Sticking to their mysterious anonymity, they will be hard pressed trying to keep their identities under wraps with the news that they have signed to SaikoLorde's former management company.

It's safe to say they're in pretty capable hands then, and hopefully there are some more smooth numbers like this on the horizon!
