Live Review: Jai Wolf 'Indian Summer'

12 June 2015 | 11:55 am | Emma Jones

The latest addition to the Foreign Family Collective is Jai Wolf, and he's not messing around with his debut original track 'Indian Summer'.

The latest addition to ODESZA's label Foreign Family has just dropped one of the biggest tracks of the year. JAI WOLF, a 23 year old producer from New York City, made his debut to the family with the enormous track 'Indian Summer', leaving no question as to why he's part of the family at all.

Taking note from his labelheads, pitched-up vocals, huge synths and rolling percussion to bring it up, 'Indian Summer' is a formidable entry to the game from a guy who got his break just a year ago by tweeting his Skrillex bootleg at the man himself. He's hit number 1 on Hype Machine seven times since then, and played Coachella - so you know he's playing for keeps here.

Opening up with some massive synth chords, the track continues in this dramatic fashion for it's duration. Splicing up vocals to get a groove going, it isn't long before the track completely explodes. The euphoric song twists and turns, swelling and falling back as Jai Wolf's skilfully shows off that his knack for restraint is just as good as his knack for things grandiose.

If this isn't a feel good song, I don't know what is. Jai Wolf has really raised the bar not only for himself here, but for his contemporaries as well. 'Indian Summer' is ambitious, but has paid off big time, and will continue to do so for the newcomer.

He is continuing his run of US festivals at the moment, but there is no word about any future releases at this stage. Here's hoping he takes this and runs with it, because we're dying for more!
