Live Review: Bob Moses ‘Talk’

BOB MOSES, a New York via Canada production duo, have managed to create an innovative brand for themselves. They've translated this in new single 'Talk'.

Musically, there are few moments that are better than experiencing a debut album for the first time. Hearing all of the hard work the musician/s have put into it and how they’ve translated their thoughts into sound.

BOB MOSES, a New York via Canada production duo, have managed to create an innovative brand for themselves. They’re releasing a debut album later in the year, but for now, we’ve been given a first taste of this enigmatic release in the form of single ‘Talk’.

Their music boasts a strong deep house initiative, spurred by a gorgeous intent focus on songwriting, and it is essentially the combination of these two that gives their sound it’s wholesome nature.

Their sound is moody, a direct result of this gorgeous crossover. However, there’s a darkness here that feels so Nicholas Jaar-esque.

Their sound is atmospheric with a sophisticated and contemporary dose of reality. ‘Talk’ is a direct correlation of this. It’s almost 7 minutes of pure bliss.

Opening with a war-like montage of sounds, it feels stealthy and quite big-boom sci-fi in its prowess. Think the sweeping sounds of Blade Runner or if you want to paint a bigger picture, just Vangelis and his eclectic production style altogether.

The knockout moment for me in this track however, is the middle portion where the vocal hook kicks in. It’s catchy, does complete justice to the production and more than anything, isn’t completely overpowering.

‘Talk’ is perfectly balanced, and Bob Moses are set to do some incredible things this year. Definitely can’t wait to hear what’s to come from these guys.
