Live Review: Mac DeMarco 'The Way You'd Love Her'

13 May 2015 | 6:00 pm | Hannah Galvin

Canadian wunderkind, Mac DeMarco, has revealed the first single of his forthcoming mini LP, Another One.

We were recently invited inside the home of MAC DEMARCO for a quick peep into the workings of his forthcoming mini-LP, Another One. Super ecstatic for the eight-track album to drop, we've just been handed its first taste with the records opener, 'The Way You'd Love Her'.

Ushering us in with a double snare drop, rays of sunshine break free from every activated string of DeMarco's jangly guitar. At first glance, this is a sonically euphoric entity, though the tone of the present ascending guitar riff experiences an emotional terrain, as it climbs up a ladder of fantasy before dropping back down to its bleak reality; a quality representative in the lyricism of, 'The Way You'd Love Her'.

Penultimately about playing it safe by never telling your desired boo how you really feel about them, a theme of cowardice lingers in such qualms, yet is overshadowed by the jovial guitar solo echoing a glimmer of hope. By this stage, Mac DeMarco's lecture is a buried hatchet, as he's allowed you one final chance to enter the vulnerability game and profess your love to another; because hey, you'll never ever know if you never ever go!
