Norwegian-New Yorker OKAY-KAYA shares the video for her debut track, ‘Damn, Gravity’.

There's not a whole lot we can tell you about this 23 year old enigma. We know that she was born in New Jersey, moved to a peninsula in Oslo, Norway and played in a heavy metal band with her brother at age 15 (rad!). Now a NYC resident and a recent signee to the XL Recordings Bronx based imprint Hot Charity (a label repping our favourite, Ratking), she's sharing some of the most hauntingly beautiful music on the interwebs for all those weary hearts out there.

OKAY-KAYA's pop/rock acoustic track 'Gravity' layers her dreamy, lilting vocals on a bed of reverberating guitar strums and atmospherics with meticulous simplicity. It's the sort of melancholic lullaby that'll squeeze your heart and make you hanker for love.

Kaya wrote the lyrics to this during a year long breakup which "kept bringing her down" and thought "it would be funny to call out on gravity."

Already getting big ups from the big wigs like Jamie xx, you have no choice but to get some wistful listening happening. Or better yet... watch a 3 minute close up of her (heart-stoppingly beautiful) face as she stares curiously into the camera, for her new video.
