Live Review: SAMO SOUND BOY ‘What Can I Do’
SAMO SOUND BOY has just put out an airy yet powerful new single titled ‘What Can I Do’, and it’s proof of his intricate approach to music.
Although he’s killing it overseas, he’s only slowly making waves here in Aus. SAMO SOUND BOY, creator of the BODY HIGH fam over in the US, has really made a splash over the course of 2014/15.
He’s gone from strength to strength, creating music as one half of DJ Dodger Stadium with Jerome LOL, orchestrating and ultimately creating what is BODY HIGH, as well as taking on the world at full force with his project as SAMO SOUND BOY.

He’s played carefully with the colours in the vocals within the intro, creating a choir-esque kind of feel, but it’s uniform in its repetition and feels like an anthem from something out of Blade Runner. That may just be the technicolour keys underneath, but it eventually blows up into a colourful run of bouncy keys, crisp beats and a fantastic balance of output.
SAMO SOUND BOY is getting some cool recognition, but I’d really like to see him garner more here in Aus. He’s got an inventive sound, and is one of those producers that is not only constantly thinking outside of the square, but also outside of the game too.
